The Schlaf Group welcomes Emily McGarr as a CHEM 4900/4910 for the academic year 2023/24 ! She will be working on a catalysis project alongside Aidan exploring the influence of Lewis acid strength on the hydrodexygenation of pereacetylated sugar substrates to renewable and sustainable polymer precursors for the production of polyesters, polyurethanes, and polyamides.

The Schlaf Group welcomes James Galvao as a 4th year research project student for the W2023 semester. He will be working on the synthesis of novel Fe and Ru porphyrin complexes !


September 2022: Marcel was awarded a Royal Society International Exchange grant and – just like Aidan before him (see below) – will be heading to Dr. Roberto Rinaldi’s lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College in London, England !
